Cut Complexity with Geotech Software

Rambøll sought a solution capable of handling limit analysis, deformation calculations, and complex stability calculations in one package. Although the department was not actively searching for software to enhance its design processes, it discovered Optum CE through word of mouth. The user-friendly interface of OPTUM G2 and its focus on geotechnical analysis quickly made it an attractive solution for Rambøll's needs. They acquired three licenses and were soon convinced of the software's potential.

It is tailored for geotechnical analyses without the interference of other modules. It focuses solely on pure geotechnics and the specific elements that interest us, without confusing them with unnecessary things.

Rambøll found the implementation process of OPTUM G2 simple and intuitive. With easy access to tutorials and an interface tailored for geotechnical constructions, the team quickly began using the software effectively in their daily work.

"The interface is very straightforward, and the background material and access to tutorials are easily available, making it very easy to get started," says Peter Johnsen, Geotechnical Engineer, Rambøll.

why rambøll chose optum g2

Since implementing OPTUM G2, Rambøll has experienced significant benefits:

  • Image
Improved Efficiency: The program's user-friendly interface and powerful computation engine enable Rambøll's engineers to set up models faster and more accurately, leading to substantial time savings.
  • Image
Advanced Analysis Capabilities: OPTUM G2 allowed Rambøll to perform limit analyses of complex geotechnical problems, including stability calculations for embankments, bearing capacity calculations for both existing and new foundations, and the design of retaining walls and support structures.
  • Image
Increased Productivity: The team has used OPTUM G2 in over 100 projects, demonstrating its broad versatility and strong computational capabilities.
  • Image
Better Project Understanding: Rambøll's engineers can more easily understand and visualize the geotechnical aspects of their projects, resulting in more precise and reliable outcomes.

It is intuitive, easy, and fast. The adaptive mesh also allows keeping the elements to a minimum, which minimizes calculation times. The entire design process of iterating, especially at the start of the process, and finding the optimal geometry and solution is super-fast. This is where I think Optum excels compared to other competing software on the market.

    Better geotechnical design outcomes

Rambøll's experience with OPTUM G2 illustrates how the right tool can transform work processes and significantly improve project execution and design quality. OPTUM G2 has not only met Rambøll's high expectations but has particularly added value through higher accuracy and efficiency in their geotechnical projects.

Rambøll expects Optum’s software to continue playing a central role in their geotechnical projects. The team recommends OPTUM G2 for its user-friendliness, efficiency, and robust analysis capabilities. As Kasper Petersen, Civil Engineer at Rambøll, says: "OPTUM G2 is a powerful tool for today's geotechnical engineers who want to improve their work processes and project outcomes."
